The Opportunity of AI for the Legal Industry

Lawyers use artificial intelligence systems in compliance with the principles of legality, fairness, transparency and accountability. The technologies used must comply with applicable national regulations, and the use of AI must always be aimed at improving the quality of legal service, without compromising the rights and trust of clients.
Any adoption of AI must be carefully evaluated to ensure that the tools chosen are suitable and proportional to the specific purposes for which they are assumed to be used.
The informed use of artificial intelligence requires that lawyers maintain and constantly develop their technological skills. It is essential to understand the functionality and limitations of the AI systems used to ensure that the results are accurate and appropriate to the legal context. Lawyers must be able to identify and the risks associated with the use of AI while avoiding a dipendence from the automatic results. So essential are, in this context, periodic updating courses on AI and new technologies, to improve one’s knowledge of developments in the legal context.
Given the rapidity with which AI technologies evolve, it is fondamentaI that lawyers are familiar with the different market tools and are up-to-date on innovations and new developments. This requires constant monitoring aIer new AI solutions, assessing their suitability for the specific target context, verifying that they comply with current regulations and regulatory standards.
