As Chair of the Host Committee, it is my immense pleasure to extend a warm welcome to New Delhi, the capital of India and venue for IPBA’s Annual Conference in 2026. The entire Host Committee is thrilled to welcome IPBA back to Delhi after 14 years.
This 35-year-old international organisation is unique as it is the only one with a focus on business, legal and policy issues in the APAC region. IPBA has members representing over 65 nations from round the globe. The annual meeting is an opportunity to discuss topical matters affecting the region in a friendly, collegial atmosphere with abundant networking opportunities.
The thrill of an IPBA conference is unmistakable – where a large family comes together over engaging sessions, ample social events which allow forging new connections, or renewing old ones – and where diverse perspectives are stitched together. This time in a nation on the march. India continues to be a land of contrasts, rapidly developing, richly diverse, dynamic country which is a blend of ancient traditions and contemporary advancements, characterized by a growing economy, significant technological progress, a vibrant democracy with an increasing global influence. Its growth model relies on domestic consumption which distinguishes it from other Asian export-dependent economies. This, in turn, provides a buffer against global economic shocks. There is palpable energy everywhere and passion is rampant, fire in the belly is characterised in overt and covert ways.
2026 theme of The Future of Law: Agility, Creativity & Change could not be timelier. In the last couple of years, there has been a catalytic shift in the legal industry, driven by rapid adoption of generative AI. It is now more than evident that agility and creativity combined with the speed with which law firms and professionals across different genres of legal practice embrace change will determine future growth and success. We are confident the program will be outstanding as the immensely talented delegates will bring their vast experience to different sessions and every attendee will carry back firm takeaways. The various social events will allow you to experience a whole new India yet rooted in its value systems and traditions.
And if you have the time and want to use the conference as a gateway to seeing other parts of India, allow me to extract from Mark Twain’s ponderings – Land of dreams and romance, wealth and poverty, splendor and rags, palaces and hovels, tigers and elephants, the country of hundred nations and a hundred tongues, 1000 religions and 2 million gods, cradle of humanity, mother of history, grandmother of legend, great-grandmother of traditions. The one land that all men desire to see, and having seen once, by even a glimpse, would not give that glimpse for the shows of all the rest of the world combined!
