Robo-Liability: Who Pays When Intelligent Machines Fail? Navigating Liability and Insurance in the Age of Autonomy

As autonomous robots and vehicles move from the lab to everyday life, questions of liability and insurance are becoming increasingly murky or complex. When intelligent machines malfunction or cause harm, who bears the risk—the manufacturer, the software developer, the user or the insurer? This panel will examine the evolving legal issues concerning autonomous systems, including product liability, negligence and the role of insurance in allocating risk. Experts will discuss how practitioners, regulators, and insurers are dealing with the unique challenges posed by self-driving vehicles, industrial robots, and other AI-powered technologies.
