Located in San Francisco, Carolyn A. Knox is a shareholder in the Cross-Border Practice Group at Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. Carolyn has broad experience in both US and cross-border employment issues. Over the course of her career, she has practiced in the US, Europe, and Brazil. She regularly provides advice and counsel on cross-border human resources law issues to senior corporate management, in-house employment counsel, and HR professionals. Her focus has always been on assisting international companies to find strategic and business-oriented solutions to their cross-border employment challenges. In addition, Carolyn assists clients with expansion into new markets outside of their home country.
Carolyn has been a frequent speaker to in-house counsel associations, bar associations, human resources associations, and media companies on local and cross-border employment and benefits issues. She is the current chair of the Employment and Immigration Committee of the IPBA.

Juan Carlos Lombardia

Juan Carlos is a Partner and Head of the Employment Area, Compliance, and Business Immigration Practice of the firm, where he joined in 2003.
He advises clients on various employment issues and is particularly well-known for his intervention and participation in collective bargaining processes, substantial changes to working conditions, downsizing and redundancy plans, individual objective dismissals, mergers, outsourcing, subcontracting, succession of contracts, senior management agreements, and employment compliance policies. It is important to highlight his experience in advising both private companies and public entities.
He has extensive experience from an employment perspective regarding the sale and purchase of businesses and business units, having been part of numerous Labor Legal Due Diligence procedures for companies in various sectors and involving several countries (Cross-Border Transactions).
Since joining the firm, he has advised national and international companies regarding their legal needs in Spain, from setting up to daily advice.
Finally, he acts as Compliance Officer, being involved in several investigation procedures with a
special focus on employment.
